Sneak Peek: Vision Building in Event Design

This week inside Palette & Planning: The Artist’s Guide to Becoming a Creative Event Designer, we dove into one of the most exciting parts of the design process: Vision Building.

When you think of an unforgettable event, it’s never just the flowers, the chairs, or the linens that make it special - it’s going beyond the table top so that everything comes together to tell a cohesive story. In other words, it's about creating a comprehensive, immersive "Vision."

Here are a few of the concepts we explored this week:

Design Principles in Action:

How balance, rhythm, proportion, and harmony serve as the foundation for strong, artistic event design.

Event Design as an Art Project:

Seeing each event as a blank canvas where every choice—big or small—paints the bigger picture.

Room Composition:

Understanding how space, scale, and flow impact the guest experience.

Focal Points & Accents:

The secrets behind creating “wow” moments while still keeping the design cohesive.

Tablescapes & Detailing:

How the smallest choices (linens, place settings, accents) elevate an event from beautiful to breathtaking.

By the end of this session, students understood how to put together an event like an “art project”—creating visions that not only look stunning but also feel unforgettable for clients and their guests.

These are the kinds of insights that help aspiring designers, planners, and creatives move from Pinterest boards to polished design plans that actually work in real life.

And this was just one week of Palette & Planning.

If you’ve ever wondered how to take your inspiration and turn it into a clear, client-ready vision that makes people stop and say “WOW”—this is exactly the kind of training we’re doing inside the program.
