Festive inspiration: Inside of the 2024 "Miracle on Waterside Drive" Pop-up bar transformation.
For the third year in a row, Norfolk Waterside District brought in Vivid Expressions LLC to design and install its immersive “Miracle” Christmas-themed pop-up bar inside the Rocky Mountain Grill, and we couldn't be more thrilled to bring this magical experience to life again!
Transforming the rustic-modern bar—with wood accents, white subway tile, and exposed black industrial ducts —into an over-the-top, nostalgic, quirky, and festive holiday wonderland was a true labor of love.
Our process began with a “Color and mood board” filled with vibrant reds, greens, and shimmering metallic tones. We were sure to incorporate playful and timeless patterns like tartan, snowflakes, and red & white stripes as well as classic cartoon characters and other nostalgic holiday elements.
Next, I took all the “ingredients” from the “Color and Mood Inspo” and put them together into a cohesive, actionable visual design plan. How? Well, I “sketched out” how the completed designs will actually look like after they're all put together.
This helps me figure out not only how to put things together but what they'll look like afterwards. This brings the vision to life and also present them so that everyone (our team, the client, venue, etc.) are all on the same page.
I also crafted a few custom “Surprises” and special “props”. Perfect for fun selfies and playful pics.
Lastly, we turned it all into reality with glittering garlands, whimsical decorations, and plenty of holiday cheer. The final result is a magical transformation of the space and an immersive experience for everyone who steps inside.
